Background
The Metroplex Senior Citizens Softball Association, a Dallas / Ft. Worth softball leaguewhich was founded in 1980, has steadily grown in popularity and participation and now has over 30teams throughout the greater DFW area. Three Divisions, A, B and C, have players from Mesquite to Ft. Worth and McKinney to Desoto participating. The starting age for men in the A and B Divisions is 55, and 65 in the C Division. Ladies must be 40 or above to play in all Divisions. While most players are men, there are several outstanding ladies playing with us as well.
Anyone obtaining the minimum age requirement in any calendar year may play with us throughout that year’s season, even though the season begins prior to their "qualifying" birthday.
Over time, our growth has predominantly occurred by word-of-mouth. What began as a small number of players in 1980 has grown today to over 500 participants and continues to expand every year. We playon Tuesday and Thursday mornings and our format is that two teams play each other twice each week - once on each team's home field. We use the official rules of the ASA Softball Association but have modified them to suit our "senior" status in life (see Rules tab). While our objective is to play competitive softball, doing so as safely as possible is paramount and our rules are designed with this in mind.
If your age meets our minimum requirements and you have a desire to play competitive softball with a great group of people on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, please let us know (see JOIN tab) and we will help you get started.
